TSPA is a research partner to the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) in the German-American Cities network.

This network is part of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Project Dialogues for Urban Change (D4UC), funded by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB), working with Mariana Kukhlevska and Oliver Weigel. The focus of this network is on

density, mixed-use, and affordable housing

Each year the partners (including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) (Cindy Campbell)) and cities in the network - Atlanta, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Seattle, St. Louis, gather in person to talk about approaches, challenges, and successes in their contexts. This year the exchange will take place in Munich, thank you to Arne Lorz Sehen, Anne Hogeback, Klaus Illigmann, and the Munich team for hosting!

This is important for tailoring our ongoing research to reflect changes in the dialogue.

The scope of our research is ever-evolving, a reality for practice-based research. This is not just about examining the past or the current situation; it is a more ambitious endeavor. How can we do things differently? How can we find better solutions and more innovative tools?

Stay tuned for more updates from Bella and Thomas on site!
